DESCRIPTION
Is Elic Ayomanor being demoted by the Tennessee Titans—or has the second-year receiver become even more valuable entering the 2026 NFL season?
Austin Stanley, Easton Freeze and JT Ruhnke discuss Ayomanor’s expanding Titans role while cruising the Cumberland River aboard Pontoon Saloon’s Nashville Water Taxi.
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi identified Ayomanor as one of the players capable of working as a gunner following the release of wide receiver and core special teamer Bryce Oliver. Cornerback Micah Robinson was another player Borgonzi mentioned while explaining how Tennessee could replace Oliver’s special teams production.
Austin playfully questions whether the assignment represents a bump in the road for Ayomanor’s breakout expectations. Easton and JT explain why it should be viewed as another demonstration of the trust Tennessee places in him.
Ayomanor remains a wide receiver first. His ability to contribute on special teams creates another path onto the active game-day roster while he competes for offensive opportunities behind Carnell Tate, Wan’Dale Robinson and Calvin Ridley.
Could Ayomanor become Tennessee’s third-most productive receiver? What would that mean for Ridley? And is Ayomanor prepared to translate his improved body, increased consistency and encouraging training camp into regular-season production?
The conversation also examines Chimere Dike’s role and why Tennessee’s receiving corps may finally possess a healthier developmental structure. Ayomanor and Dike can continue improving without being forced into larger responsibilities before they are ready.
The second half of the show focuses on rookie right guard Fernando Carmona.
Carmona did not begin playing football until high school and arrived in the NFL as a developmental Day 3 draft pick. He has already earned a starting position beside JC Latham on Tennessee’s offensive line.
Austin, Easton and JT discuss Carmona’s remarkable path from high school tennis player to NFL starter, the physical mentality Mike Borgonzi values and how high Carmona’s ceiling could climb as his technique develops.
Could Carmona and Latham become the Titans’ long-term “Bash Brothers” on the right side? If Carmona provides serviceable or better play immediately, Tennessee’s offensive line could make a significant jump during Cam Ward’s second season.
This special Titans discussion is presented by Pontoon Saloon and the Nashville Water Taxi.
